Market Your Business with Software Giveaways

Monday, April 13th, 2009

One great way to build your business is to give away free software. Hundreds of businesses have been built successfully on this foundation alone. There are many ways you can use free software giveaways to build your business.

Possible ways to give away software and make money online include distributing it at free software download sites. You can also give away free website and blog templates, such as WordPress or MySpace themes. These are some of the free or low cost ways to accomplish this, but use your imagination as there are many more.

Give Away Free Software

It’s amazing that you can find so many websites where you can download software applications for free or as shareware programs. Once you have them downloaded, you can offer them for free to others who may want to purchase other things on your site. These giveaways cost you nothing but a few minutes of your time to do this.

One place you can download software for free is at Download.com where there are literally thousands of free software programs that people keep coming back to download again and again, with little to no marketing done by the website or companies themselves. When the time comes to upgrade the software however, after the free time period is over is when the companies make their money.

You can also create free software and market it by giving it away to other people’s email lists or in relevant forums. For example, if you have a free market research tool, you can give it away at marketing forums or have your marketing friends send out an email blast that’ll promote your new free tool. If the tool is good, they’re doing their customers a favor.

Finally, you can keep your software free and require a login or email signup to access to download. This will allow you to continually market to the list.

Give Away Free Design Templates

Want to increase your website traffic? Giving away freebies like software and WordPress designs can help you with generating traffic by use of backlinks. Create these templates yourself or hire someone out to design them. Make them in a particular niche and include a backlink at the bottom for people to click on to take them to your website.

An example of this may be creating a website designed to gardening and then including a link at the bottom that takes readers back to your site to learn about some of the gardening products or articles you have for sale.

A Very Cost Efficient Way to Market Your Business

Generally, getting free traffic is pretty difficult. By giving away free software however, you can generate thousands, sometimes millions of views. If your software is useful and popular, you might even get bloggers and other websites to review and recommend your software.

To recap, putting your free software out there increases exposure of your website and products. Think of it as free advertising that does a very effective job of letting others know about you.

Once your software is available online, the flood of targeted traffic will just keep on coming in. You make a onetime investment in time, energy or money and the traffic will continue to flow. In many ways, giving away software is a powerful free way to generate “passive traffic.” Either of these techniques are both great ways to drastically increase your traffic for a very low cost.

How & Why to Track Affiliate Links

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

The process of affiliate link tracking is in fact how many businesses make money. Commissions are potentially what keep some businesses afloat. However, not all link tracking processes are on a level playing field. There are some definitely better than others.

How exactly can affiliate link tracking be accomplished? Let us walk you through a few different methods. We’ll start at the beginning, to the early days of Internet Marketing.

The Old

It used to be common practice with affiliate link tracking to use URLs and unique IDs identifying a particular affiliate. When used on its own, this method is practically obsolete. Why? It’s much too restricting and unfair. Any prospects would be required to make a sale at the precise time they clicked on the link. If this didn’t occur in the appropriate fashion, a referring business could miss out on the credit for sending affiliate business while helping with sales amounts.

The combination of URL and unique ID would simply end up timing out- even if the page was bookmarked by the prospect to go back to purchase later. In many ways, this method would ensure the affiliates could not be paid. It led to many marketers wanting a newer, improved way to deal with affiliate link tracking. Then there were cookies.

Recent ways

Cookies were quite popular recently. They allowed prospects to accomplish new things, such as leaving a website, and coming back to purchase later. They became handy in helping affiliates get paid for the referral they rightfully worked for, as they were hosted on Internet browsers which tracked activity for longer periods of time.

Cookies had their drawbacks, too. They were only functional when a prospect made the proper allowances for their browser to accept them. They must use the same browser to return to the affiliate’s link to their website, doing all this while the cookies were still valid. Needless to say, confusion or miscalculation could result in causing a referrer to lose quite a few dollars. It was discovered in the end how much upkeep cookies required.

Software

With the various disadvantages linked to previous affiliate link tracking customs, programs have now been created in order to assist in bringing affiliate link tracking up to where it should be. How? These specific programs work alongside a database, independent from affiliates’ and prospects’ activity. With a combination of cookies, IP addresses, referral IDs, unique URLs and more items to ensure referrals get accounted for when need be. Additionally, data documenting the relationship created between referrer and prospect supplies substantial data. It would be difficult to deny a business sent a prospect to an affiliate if this same prospect had correlating cookies in his browser, used a referral ID and a unique URL to back him up.

When you think about it this way, programs actually work towards getting affiliates paid. And that’s why programs are exactly what every business owner interested in affiliate marketing should invest in. No one wants to feel like they’re not getting credit for referrals. After all, a true affiliate relationship is mutually beneficial. Affiliate programs ensure that they stay that way.

Friday, April 10th, 2009

If you are looking for the short answer, it’s YES! Free PLR is a reality. Many people find it hard to believe or understand how this is possible. If it’s free, is it worthwhile information? Our goal is to show you the ins and outs of using free PLR.

How Can PLR Articles be Free?

Free things are often given out in the marketing world as an incentive for people to buy more. Consider it a “product sample” so to speak.

Other ways to use free PLR could be as an incentive allowing for more traffic to their site, or to add new people to their email list. This is one of the primary reasons free PLR articles are given away in the first place.

You still get value from giving away free PLR. Free products will net you the traffic you want.

Free PLR Benefits and Drawbacks

The obvious benefit of using free PLR is just that – it’s free. You are receiving content you can use without having to pay for it.

The drawback is that most likely, hundreds of other people have access to the same content as you. That means that in Google, you’ll probably get penalized for duplicate content unless you use the techniques outlined in the next section.

How to Put Your PLR to Use

Free PLR has several potential uses. To start positively, you can avoid issues of duplicate content by ensuring you don’t use publically any free PLR articles in their original form. An example of this would be using your PLR content to send out to your email list.

You can give it away in a free report that’s downloaded via PDF. You can even put it in a larger eBook. You can read it and turn it into a PLR audio. By avoiding putting the free PLR into a traditional webpage, you avoid many duplicate content issues.

Let’s say you want to use the content from your free PLR content on your own web page. You can do this as long as your articles are unique, so the best thing to do is to have them rewritten.

An important point to mention when rewriting articles is to do this paragraph by paragraph. This results in a complete revamping of the article, making it unique. If it’s at all possible, have less than four words in the same sequence similar to the original. This makes rewriting even better. Also making sure titles and/or headers are different from the original PLR. Following these guidelines will protect you from any duplicate content issues or penalties.

Finally, you might actually be able to find a few free PLR gems that haven’t been used much. Often times you’ll find these at smaller websites rather than larger PLR sites.

Use Free PLR to Boost Your Business

You might have noticed there are more benefits than drawbacks to using free PLR resources. When used correctly, it can be a fantastic business building tool, while saving you time and money too. Creating content can be time consuming, something many business owners would rather avoid. This is possible by using free PLR products.

How to Find the Best Niche WordPress Themes

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Prospects hate to see the same old content across several online businesses. It’s even worse when they see similar presentations. How many times can they find default themes interesting? My guess is that it’s only once.

A specific type of business owner wants to use a niche WordPress theme. These business owners want to grab a specific target market. They know that picking the right WordPress theme can mean the difference between success and failure. If you’re reading this article, you probably do, too.

What to look for in a theme (general)

Many online business owners put a lot of importance on Google AdSense.

If you’re one of these business owners, you probably think that AdSense can’t be shoved to the side when considering a theme. You’re right. You’ll have to make sure that your niche WordPress theme can work with your AdSense. Otherwise, you may as well forget functionality.

Now you are ready for customization.

What are the specifics here?

Niche WordPress themes, though already somewhat customized, can be customized further for easier integration with your business.

Start with their magnificent themes and customize further!

and get a little technical (or hire someone talented to do that for you).

Come across modifiable themes that allow you to change:

The main keyword

Your main keyword in the Meta title tags and headers help search engines and prospects find your website. Without it, your website just floats around on the Internet without any real place to be. You need to be able to modify the Meta title tags and headers so that search engines and prospects alike will be able to classify and find your website.

Text and images in headers

What’s the point of getting a WordPress theme if you can’t even modify the header images or text? There is no point. So make sure that you have that ability.

Text appearance

Fonts, fonts and more fonts! The way your text looks is important. Some fonts go better with certain types of content. Try choosing a font that represents your business and the blog’s content well. Think twice before thinking that any old font will do. It’s not true.

CSS stuff

You may spend hours looking for that perfect niche theme, but you may end up a little disappointed in the end, no matter how nice the theme you end up with is. Why? Because no theme comes ready to use. You can get a handle on this by using CSS. Modifying the theme’s code using CSS can make your WordPress theme absolutely perfect. Anything you want can be incorporated into your WordPress theme, so take advantage of that fact, even if you have to undergo a little training and education to do it.

If you look into all these things and successfully incorporate them into your WordPress theme, you’ll have a leg up on your competition. Your brand will be strengthened and you’ll stand out to your prospects. And that’s the name of the game, isn’t it?

5 Easy Ideas for Blog Traffic Tips

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

There are a vast number of blogs out there in cyber space. It cannot only be difficult to keep track of all your friends’ blogs, but remembering to get your own visited often as well. By having traffic driven to your blog you will become a more prominent, and therefore remembered piece of the “blogosphere” as it has so been dubbed.

1) Write Frequently and Well

While in the process of building your blog’s reputation as well as its audience, writing without purpose is not going to help. The content you share on your blog needs to be helpful in order to keep people coming back. Properly written information is also important to your readers. Bad sentence structure or incorrect grammar will pass occasionally, but many readers will find it tiresome before long. Although they may find information on your blog which is useful to them, they could choose to look for other options.

Frequent updates with that all-important useful content will also increase the number of opportunities you have for this content to be notice by various search engines such as Yahoo! or Google.

2) Search Engine Submitting

Most search engines have an area which will say something along the lines of “Submit Link” (or something similar, depending on the search engine). By submitting your URL to these search engines, your blog’s existence will be made known to them. As a result, those same search engines will grab on while crawling the internet looking for content, bringing your information along to other people’s searches.

However, please understand this doesn’t mean your blog pages will find themselves at the top of search lists on your screen. It’s great just knowing you have a chance of your blog being picked up and passed to others with search engine results

3) Using and Updating Your Blogroll

Add links to the various sites you like or enjoy visiting to your blogroll. The owner of these blogs will notice, and are not only likely to visit your blog themselves but may add you to their blogroll in return. This is a very easy way to get news of your blog out to many people. The goal with this is having someone follow the link from someone else’s blogroll. Once they are there, they may find they enjoy your content which then turns them into the loyalist of readers.

4) RSS Feeds for Your Blog

By adding the option for your blog readers to receive notification by RSS feed, they will not only be able to read your blog, but also know when new content has been published. This could potentially lead to them referring someone else rather quickly to your blog; especially if the topic is of importance to someone they know. Adding an RSS button to your blog site is normally as easy as a click or two of your mouse to potentially gain more traffic.

5) Don’t Play the Waiting Game

Blogs aren’t the ideal place to be shy, or lurk in the shadows. Your success as a blogger relies heavily on your readiness to communicate on comment not only on your own blog, but on those of others as well. Networking with others is the best way to become a prominent figure in the online community. Ask a question, just say hello, or join in a current conversation while making an introduction to others. Sitting in wait is not going to bring you the traffic you want and need. Speak up, get noticed and let everyone know you are finally there!

It’s in no way unheard of for people to be a little dubious or slightly confused when it comes to exactly what blogging can do for you. Not only is using a blog quite easy to do, it’s also a fantastic way to bring people to you without the hassle of a bunch of phone calls, or needing to run to the copy shop for 1000 banners to distribute. With a small bit of typing, a click of a mouse to publish and some time spent surfing around to check out the blogs of others, not only will you see what we’re talking about, but you may just find a bit of information you yourself were looking for.

Effective List Building & Driving Traffic to Your Squeeze Page

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Your list is where the money is. Being an internet marketer you are already aware the way to make money is by building your email list. It’s that essential, key component in being successful. So how are you supposed to generate the necessary traffic to your squeeze page to build this list? There are a few great ways, such as PPC, affiliate programs and article marketing.

Pay Per Click Marketing or PPC

PPC marketing could be the most efficient means of driving traffic. It’s efficient because it is quick, as well as its tracking ability.

The goal with Pay Per Click marketing is to break even. You don’t need to make much of a profit, because you’re building your list. If you can get 100 people a day on your list and break even, you’re doing incredibly well.

Success with Pay Per Click has its own little trick, which is continual testing and improvement. You’ll have an easier time getting something that is almost ready to being ready than you would making an attempt to start over with a different idea all together.

Article Marketing

Article marketing is a less expensive, but slower means of getting traffic to your website. When it comes to article marketing, you end up paying with time instead of cash.

Here’s how it works: You write a bunch of articles and submit them to article directories. Article directories are crawled regularly and your content will get indexed quickly. If you chose good keywords and used good SEO principles, your article will rank highly and you’ll get traffic.

When you are starting out with article marketing, it generally involves a lot of work for a bit of traffic. Sticking to it however will turn that little bit of traffic into much more over time.

Affiliate Marketing

Here’s the secret to affiliate marketing: Good statistics. Most Internet marketing experts agree that it’s usually best to test your stats using AdWords or other marketing tactics before you approach potential affiliates.

There is definitely some refining which can be done when using PPC. Your best bet is doing any refinement before approaching your potential affiliates. Why you ask? Let’s say an affiliate decides to promote your product and for some reason or another it doesn’t convert, you have just burned your bridge forever. While on the other hand, if one of your affiliates promotes your product to their full ability and it does convert, they’ll likely keep on with the promotion of your product regularly.

Furthermore, you usually won’t be able to get big JV deals unless you have your stats. Most “heavy hitters” don’t want to do business with first timers because they know that there’s a big risk of losing money.

Nobody wants to use their traffic to test someone else’s marketing. You can’t expect your affiliates to want to send you traffic unless you can provide solid statistics on how your page converts.

Getting Traffic to Your Squeeze Page

These are three of the top ways to get traffic on your squeeze page. Pay Per Click, Affiliate Marketing and Article Marketing are there for you when you’re ready. Remember, each of these techniques have had their own bit of responsibility for the success of many businesses. Nobody said you need to be perfect at everything. Simply doing one exceptionally is a great place to start.

How & Why to Track Affiliate Links

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Many businesses earn much of their money by affiliate link tracking. Some companies even count on commissions to keep their heads above water. But it calls to reason not all link tracking processes are of equal standards. There are some which are definitely better than others. .

How exactly can affiliate link tracking be accomplished? Let us walk you through a few different methods. We’ll start at the beginning, to the early days of Internet Marketing.

There used to be a time when affiliate link tracking was a process achieved by using URLs and unique IDs which could be associated to particular affiliates. This method, when used alone is old and practically obsolete. Why? It was far too restricting as well as unfair. Any prospects would need to make a sale at precisely the exact moment they clicked on the link. Otherwise the referral may not go through, resulting in the business not receiving credit for their recommendation to the affiliate business and helping with sales.

This could be the selling point of these programs for every business dealing with affiliate marketing. This investment could prevent someone not receiving credit deserved for referrals they worked hard on. A great affiliate relationship is mutually beneficial. Affiliate programs work towards keeping it that way.

Affiliate Link Tracking: Why & How

But it was discovered cookies had their own drawbacks. They only work if prospects allowed their browser to accept them. They must use the same browser for the return trip to the affiliate’s website and ensures they visit while said cookie was still valid. There is no need to hide it; any lack of attention to any of these areas could be cause for the loss of a lot of money. Cookies required too much upkeep.

Software

Because of the disadvantages of previous affiliate link tracking customs, programs have been created to try to help bring affiliate link tracking up to where it should be. How? Taking this into consideration, these programs work towards all affiliates getting paid properly. This would be the primary reason business owners with any interest in affiliate marketing should consider this investment, everyone concerned with credit being received where credit is due. After all, true affiliate relationships are mutually beneficial. Affiliate programs ensure they stay that way.
